Second Open Call for Micro-Grants for SoilTribes Community of Practice

The SoilTribes Community of Practice (CoP) is launching its second Open Call for Micro‑Grants, continuing its mission to empower soil advocates, practitioners, and innovators across Europe and beyond.

To support this ecosystem, SoilTribes offers four rounds of €750 Lump Sum Micro-Grants, with a total of 32 grants available during the project’s timeframe. These grants enable CoP members to attend trainings, events, and implement activities that boost soil awareness and community engagement. The application process is simple, inclusive, and designed with busy professionals in mind.

Applicants may propose activities that align with the Soil Mission and the SoilTribes CoP pillars and each CoP member may receive up to two micro‑grants over the course of the project.

Applicants must outline how this amount will be used, selecting from the following eligible cost categories:

  • Travel

Transportation, accommodation, meals, and local mobility for attending events or trainings.

  • Equipment

Basic tools needed for activities, such as audio‑visual equipment, workshop materials, or soil demonstration tools (e.g., sensors, display kits).

  • Other goods, works, and services

Costs such as external advisory services, mentoring, or other support needed to implement the proposed activity.

Applications for the second Open Call are open until 9 March 2026 at 15:00 CET.

The application process has one 1 step: complete and submit the Application Form via the EU Survey platform at the link below.

FAQ

There was a technical issue when I sent my application; I am not sure if it was submitted. How do I know you received it?

After submitting your application, a confirmation message should appear on your contribution ID (be sure to save this number!). If you do not receive it, you should re-submit your application. If you are still unsure, contact us via email at hello@soiltribes.eu.

Do I need to be a member of the SOILTRIBES Community of Practice (CoP) to apply for a micro-grant?

Yes. Only registered members of the SOILTRIBES Community of Practice are eligible to apply for the micro-grant. You can learn more about the Community of Practice through the linked Practice Guide. To join the Community of Practice, you must complete the SoilTribes Expression of Interest form available https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/SoilTribes_eoi.

I am not from an EU Member State, can I apply?

Yes, you can apply if you are established in one of the following eligible countries:

  • A Member State of the European Union (EU),
  • One of the EU’s Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT), or
  • A country that is officially associated with the Horizon Europe programme at the time of the call publication.

Can I submit multiple applications for the micro-grant?

Yes, multiple applications are allowed, as long as each one proposes a distinct and clearly different activity. However, please note that you can only receive one grant (750€ VAT included) per call.Over the course of the project, each CoP member may be awarded a maximum of two micro-grants (each worth €750, VAT included), not exceeding a total of €1,500.

Will I need to provide any receipts or financial documents to receive the micro-grant?

This is a lump sum grant, which means there is no requirement to submit receipts or detailed expense reports. However, you will need to submit a final 2-page report describing your activity and how the grant was used to support your goals. This ensures accountability without administrative burden.

Can I apply if I’ve already completed the activity I’m proposing?

No. Activities that are already completed or underway before the application deadline are not eligible. The grant is intended to support upcoming activities, not to reimburse past ones.

Can organisations apply, or only individuals?

Only individuals (natural persons) who are members of the SOILTRIBES Community of Practice are eligible to apply. If you work within an organisation, your application must still be submitted in your personal capacity.
