SoilTribes Open Call Attracts 300+ Applications from 47 Countries

The SoilTribes Open Call officially closed on 10 October 2025, marking a major milestone in the project’s mission to support creative, community-driven soil initiatives across Europe and beyond. The call received 389 applications, with 367 eligible proposals, reflecting strong engagement from diverse actors committed to advancing soil health through participatory approaches.

Funded under the EU Mission: Soil, the Open Call offers Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP), empowering multi-actor teams to implement innovative activities focused on citizen engagement, creative soil practices, and inclusive knowledge-sharing.

Applications came from 47 countries, with over 60% submitted by teams based in EU Member States. The top five contributing countries were:

  • Turkey 
  • Italy 
  • Spain 
  • Greece 
  • Ukraine 

This broad geographic reach highlights SoilTribes’ growing visibility and relevance across Europe and neighboring regions.

More than 90% of proposals included strong capacity-building components such as: Education and training programs, Mentoring and workshops, Community-led soil literacy initiatives

The evaluation phase is currently underway and will continue until mid-December 2025. Final results will be announced by 19 December 2025, with selected projects joining the SoilTribes ecosystem to co-create impactful soil solutions.
