SoilTribes at the European Soil Awareness Network workshop

The SoilTribes project, represented by INOVA+, recently attended a key workshop held on JRC and the European Network on Soil Awareness (ENSA), this workshop focused on advancing soil literacy and citizen engagement in soil-related issues, in line with the EU Soil Strategy and Mission Soil.

SoilTribes, alongside a diverse group of stakeholders, participated in discussions aimed at exploring how to effectively raise soil awareness across Europe. The workshop highlighted the need for targeted messaging and educational initiatives that can engage the public and help overcome the current gaps in soil literacy. One of the key outcomes of the workshop was the emphasis on building sustainable networks and creating resources that make soil science more accessible to everyone.

The SoilTribes project continues to contribute to these efforts by activating a multi-actor network of over 1000 members, supporting nearly 30 soil literacy projects with €1.7M in funding, and organizing educational events such as workshops and soilathons. These efforts are designed to ensure that soil awareness is integrated into everyday life and drives action for sustainable soil management.
