SoilTales: Citizen science and comics for healthy soils in secondary education

Greece

About

Citizen science, comic creation, and storytelling.

SoilTales is a six-month citizen science and comics initiative led by Web2Learn in Greece. Implemented in Lemnos, Thessaloniki, Athens, and Lefkada, it expanded from six secondary schools to twelve schools and engaged about 260 students from elementary, junior high, and high schools. Students collect local soil data, explore soil health, and transform their learning into comic-based narratives with support from Athens Comics Library. Final events celebrate students’ work and strengthen awareness of soil biodiversity, sustainability, and citizen science.
