Soils for Europe Conference 2026: Advancing Soil Health Across Europe
The SoilTribes project is pleased to highlight the upcoming Soils for Europe Conference, a major gathering dedicated to strengthening soil health, innovation and collaboration on soil. The event will take place from 7 to 11 September 2026 in Coimbra, Portugal. Bringing together researchers, practitioners, Living Labs, policymakers, and European‑funded projects working under the EU Mission: A Soil Deal for Europe.
Led by the SOLO Project and co‑organised with CURIOSOIL, NBSOIL, and several Mission Soil initiatives, the conference aims to create an open space where science, practice, and policy meet to accelerate Europe’s transition toward healthier soils.
The Soils for Europe Conference will showcase the latest research, methodologies, and real‑world applications emerging from Mission Soil projects and beyond.
Key themes:
- Soil biodiversity and the protection of soils as living ecosystems
- New technologies and innovations for soil monitoring, remote sensing, and sustainable land management
- Land degradation, erosion, and restoration, with strategies to halt soil loss and improve soil structure
- Soil organic carbon and its role in climate mitigation
- Soil sealing and urban soil reuse, supporting sustainable urban planning
- Pollution reduction and remediation, addressing contaminants and waste
- Harmonised soil data and monitoring systems, moving toward a unified European soil information framework
- Citizen engagement and soil literacy, empowering communities and fostering public awareness
- Reducing Europe’s global soil footprint, addressing consumption‑driven impacts beyond EU borders
Healthy soils are essential for food security, climate resilience, biodiversity, and sustainable development. As Europe accelerates its efforts to restore and protect soils, this conference provides a unique opportunity to exchange knowledge and foster a productive dialogue.
We happily encourage interested parties to apply to this opportunity.
