Soil Art Tales Travels to Slovenia: Exploring Soil Through Art at Water Tower in Brežice, Slovenia
From 10 September to 18 October 2026, the Soil Art Tales travelling exhibition will open its doors at Posavski muzej Brežice / Water Tower in Brežice, Slovenia, bringing new perspectives on soil, creativity, and our connection with the living systems beneath our feet.
The third European stop of “Soil Art Tales: Living Ecosystems for Shared Futures” will take place in Slovenia as part of the EU-funded SoilTribes project, organised by WAMU+NET in collaboration with Posavski muzej Brežice.
Following previous presentations at the Serralves Foundation in Porto and Villa Altieri in Rome, the exhibition continues its journey across Europe, bringing soil stories closer to new communities through the language of art.
Curated by Stefano Cagol, Soil Art Tales brings together the work of four internationally recognised artists from different generations:

- Nikki Lindt (NL/US)
- Jo Pearl (UK)
- Miguel Teodoro (PT)
Through installations, video, photography, and research-based artistic practices, the exhibition explores soil as a living ecosystem and highlights its connections with some of the most pressing challenges and opportunities of our time.
The artworks invite visitors to reflect on the relationships between soil and:
- water systems and climate change;
- food production and sustainability;
- cultural memory and heritage;
- knowledge, ecosystems, and collective futures.
The opening event will include a guided tour led by curator Stefano Cagol, offering visitors an opportunity to explore the exhibition’s artistic approach and the ideas behind Soil Art Tales.
Educational activities organised by the host museum will further support public engagement, creating opportunities for visitors to learn more about soil health, biodiversity, and the role of communities in protecting natural ecosystems.
